Climate change is ravaging Nigeria and the world, presenting a complex challenge that impacts the present and future. In an era of pressing global crises—including poverty, hunger, and inequality—there is an urgent need for dynamic, youth-led movements focusing on educative awareness, child development, and innovative solutions. World Children's Day, celebrated annually on November 20 to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, is a perfect platform for amplifying children's and young people's voices on critical issues like climate change.
To address these challenges, UNICEF and the Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI-Solution17) are collaborating to host The Voices, Today, This event will spotlight children and young people from Lagos, Nigeria, focusing on creative storytelling and practical solutions to advance climate action.
